Embrace the Spirit of Giving: A Local Touch on Giving Tuesday in Nashville

As the holiday season unfolds, there's no better time to channel the warmth of generosity. This Giving Tuesday, the Heard Newman Team is thrilled to shine a spotlight on the heart of our vibrant community in Nashville. In the true spirit of togetherness, we've come together to curate a list of local charities that hold a special place in our hearts.

Nashville is more than just a city; it's a tapestry woven with the threads of compassion and community spirit. We invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact as we introduce you or remind you of the incredible organizations that tirelessly work to uplift our neighbors. Each charity on our list has been carefully chosen by members of our team, reflecting the diverse causes that resonate with us and embody the essence of Nashville's collaborative spirit. Together, let's make this holiday season one of hope, unity, and boundless generosity. ✨

Nurture the Next: Adopt-a-Family

Spread joy and make a difference through Nurture the Next!

Many of the families in our programs are not in a position to purchase holiday presents and sometimes need help purchasing basic items for their children. To help these families in need, we are asking our supporters and friends to adopt a family this holiday season and provide a gift for each member of the family. Whether it's pots and pans for parents, winter clothing, or toys for the children, your generosity will make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most. You can provide these gifts by yourself or team up with your family, a faith group, or coworkers to give the gift of joy to your neighbors across Tennessee this holiday season.

NAHT is a Christ-centered team of highly specialized addiction intervention specialists that rescued women trust. We consistently show up in their territory to create ongoing relationships that lead to successful interventions. We have women on our staff who have personally lived this vicious cycle. We understand their world. We know what this takes. Our team is able to look these women in their eyes, speak the language of their world, and provide resources we know from personal experience have the power to help. These relationships and interventions are crucial for victims to be connected to proper rehabilitation clinics and begin the journey to living in the freedom they deserve.

Bring relief, community, connection & restoration to the most vulnerable and unhoused through People Loving Nashville

Every night in our city, there are hundreds who would consider themselves in some form of being unhoused.  We recognize the great chasm between those in need and those who can help. Our outreaches are built on four pillars: Relief, Community, Connection, & Restoration. Strong relationships with our community is vital. We link arms with trusted volunteers, churches, & partners who provide immediate needs & long-term solutions.

Almost 3,000 Nashville households have been served with eviction notices since September 1st. With almost 500 families on Nashville's list for housing support, this shelter says their services are needed now more than ever. A new challenge to fight homelessness in Nashville has put 100 families in new homes within 100 days. The Safe Haven Family Shelter partnered with the United Way of Greater Nashville and multiple other organizations across Nashville to reach this goal. For more than 36 years, Safe Haven Family Shelter has led Middle Tennessee’s efforts to house, support, empower and advocate for families experiencing homelessness. Our shelter-to-housing program is the one of the only of its kind in Tennessee and tailored to meet each family’s needs. We provide comprehensive services with a focus on affordable housing, employment and community resources.

Challenge systems that commoditize, criminalize, and exploit women at Thistle Farms

Thistle Farms is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to helping women survivors recover and heal from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction. We do this by providing a safe place to live, a meaningful job, and a lifelong sisterhood of support. Most of the women we serve first experienced sexual abuse between ages 7-11 and began using alcohol or drugs by age 13, and first hit the streets between the ages of 14 and 16. Traumatic childhood experiences give way to homelessness, addiction, further abuse, and incarceration, often compounded by poverty. We believe that love is more powerful than all the forces that drive women to the street, and a strong community will help them not only heal, but thrive.

Watch the love of god make strangers into neighbors and neighbors into family through Napier Kitchen Table

As Midtown is on the move to see gospel transformation happen around our city, we see the Lord calling us to the most historically marginalized neighborhoods to see Strangers become Neighbors and Neighbors become the Family of God. We’re a church family that gathers around the table to be transformed by the redeeming love of Jesus through authentic relationships with each other. We are all united in our common dignity and value as well our brokenness and need for a Savior.
